CARE Österreich’s work is guided by a Vision-Mission Statement and a Strategic Plan which both highlight CARE’s commitment to Gender Mainstreaming and place Gender Equality & Women Empowerment at the core of our work to overcome poverty and social injustice. Based on and in support of its programme hypothesis that women’s empowerment can be achieved by a combination of interventions addressing psychosocial well-being, food- and livelihood security and participation in decision-making processes CÖ builds up specific technical expertise in the areas of: Gender, Psychosocial Programming, Food/Livelihood Security & Climate Change. Emergency Response & Humanitarian Aid has always been a key pillar of the CÖ programme, whereas special attention is given to the continuum of emergency-rehabilitation-development with a particular attention to conflict and post-conflict situations.
