Indonesia: SENSE – Support for Empowerment of Non-integrated IDPs to improve Settlement and Economy (CfP: Aid to uprooted people in the developing countries) - IDN103

Overall objective: Uprooted families in Indonesia have achieved the basis for sustainable settlement and livelihoods through more equitable access to resources and integration with host communities, with living conditions above international minimum standards.

Specific objective: 6,000 uprooted families and host family households achieve more equitable and sufficient access to land, shelter, community facilities, health services, livelihoods assets and skills and community decision-making to form the basis for sustainable settlement and livelihoods.
Project Outputs and/or Results:
1. 6,000 uprooted families and host family households achieve more equitable and secure access to land and co-management of local resources for settlement and livelihoods through strengthened community planning processes.
2. In 30 communities, access to essential facilities including basic shelter, water and sanitation and health facilities and services is improved for common benefit, with priority for the most vulnerable.
3. 6,000 uprooted families and host family households, including women, are supported to plan and develop food and income sources to meet their basic needs, through increased skills and inputs.

Key Activities:
a) Livelihood security assessment,
b) training  to conduct participatory assessments,
c) Facilitate grouops to plan and negotiate options for permanent settlement,
d) Train and support village government and community members to conduct community planning through a vision mapping process and have these palns formalized,
e) Land certification,
f) Shelter and infrastructure improvements,
g) Strengthen capacity of community-based health services,
h) Rehabilitate nutritional status of children under 5,
i) livelihood development,
j) mobilize service providers for livelihood development purposes,
k) Have beneficiaries liaise with service providers,
l) Provide extension services in agriculture and cottage industries.
